Genie in a Nutshell respects your privacy and follows the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Last updated: 29 October 2026.
What we collect
- Your name, phone number, email and delivery address when you order or contact us.
- What you order and how you paid (we never see or store card numbers; Yoco handles card payments).
- Messages you send us on WhatsApp, email or our contact form.
- Health information you choose to share with us (for example allergies or medication), only so we can check a product is suitable for you.
- Basic website information, such as pages visited, through cookies.
Why we use it
- To process, deliver and support your orders.
- To answer your questions and keep you updated about your order.
- To remind you when you may need a refill, or tell you about our products. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To keep our accounting records, as the law requires.
- To understand how our website and adverts are used, so we can improve them.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share only what is needed with the service providers who help us run the business: couriers and Pudo (to deliver), Yoco (to take card payments), our accounting, email and messaging tools, and website and advertising tools such as Google and Meta. Some of these providers store information outside South Africa, with protection required by POPIA.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to keep your cart working and to measure visits and adverts (for example Google and the Meta Pixel). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
We keep order and invoice records for as long as tax law requires. Everything else we keep only for as long as we need it for the reasons above.
Your rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you may object to marketing at any time. Contact us on 084 330 0005 or helpdesk@slimunut.co.za. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
